Build Your Own Guitar in the South of France.

Two weeks. Three students. One guitar built by you.

Building your own guitar becomes something more than simply making an instrument.

Whether you’re a professional player, a novice guitarist or simply someone who enjoys working with wood, this course is designed to give you the opportunity to create an instrument that is genuinely your own.

Nothing is pre-prepared.

When you arrive, you’ll choose the tonewoods you want to work with and the style of guitar you want to build. From there, over two weeks, you’ll turn those pieces of timber into a finished instrument.

It’s a guitar that will become part of your life — not simply because you own it, but because you made it.

There is an enormous sense of achievement in stringing up an instrument that, only two weeks earlier, existed as individual pieces of wood.

Two Weeks, Three Students, One Guitar Built by you.

The courses are deliberately kept small, with a maximum of three people. This means there is plenty of individual guidance throughout the build, while still having the enjoyment and camaraderie of working alongside others.

You don’t need previous guitar-making experience. I’ll guide you through the entire process, step by step, from selecting your timber and preparing the components through to voicing the soundboard, assembling the instrument, shaping the neck, fretting, finishing and finally stringing up your completed guitar.

The aim is not simply to leave with a handmade acoustic guitar. It is to understand how and why it works — and to experience the satisfaction of hearing an instrument you have built with your own hands for the very first time.

What’s Included

The course fee is €3,950a and includes all your materials, a hard case for your instrument and lunch everyday.

The course is designed as an immersive experience — time in the workshop, good food, conversation and the pleasure of building a guitar in the South of France.

A Workshop in the South of France

The course takes place in my workshop in the South of France, surrounded by beautiful rolling hills and countryside.

For two weeks, the workshop becomes your workspace. With only three students on each course, there is time to work carefully, ask questions and understand each stage of the guitar-making process.

The days are hands-on and rewarding, but the experience is about more than time at the workbench. It is also about slowing down, enjoying good food and wine, sharing ideas and spending time with people who have come together because of a common fascination with guitars and craftsmanship.

At the end of the two weeks, you leave France carrying an acoustic guitar built with your own hands — and the story of how you made it.
